Apple Pie Scone- My Signature

There's one thing I can eat for breakfast, lunch and dinner and be satisfied and that's a scone. I just love scones so much that I really think I can possibly live off of them. I decided to make my own scone, my signature scone using my favorite ingredients. I got my inspiration from Baking Bites, her Strawberry Scone blew me away I never tasted a scone so good. I used the basic scone recipe and added my favorite ingredients from there.

Baking Bites Strawberry Scone (you must try this)

Apple Pie Scone-

Basic Scone
2 Cups Flour
1 tsp Baking Soda
1 tsp Baking Pwdr
1/4 tsp salt
1/4 cup sugar
4-5 Spoons of Butter

I added to my scone recipe

1/4 cup Unsweetened applesauce
1/4 buttermilk
2 Chopped and peeled Fuji Apples
2 TB Brown Sugar

Icing-
I used 2 TB Unsweetened Applesauce
1 Cup Confection Sugar

I got the icing idea from Baking Bites Strawberry glaze, with the exception of using applesauce.

All you do is add all dry ingredients together, cut butter into the flour mixture until large clumps are gone, then mix in the rest of the ingredients, cut into triangle shapes and bake at 350 for 15 mins or until golden on top. The apples still have a nice little crunch and soft in the inside, the crust flakes on top but is moist inside. So delicious.

Add glaze topping when the scones are still warm and it really taste like apple pie. ;)

I have pictures to post, I won't be able to get them up until Sunday but they look as good as they taste I promise. I'm proud of myself for coming up with this I really am, I don't come up with recipes if you are a regular on my blog you know I'm all about trying everyone else's recipes so this is really exciting for me. I think also if I had some granola on me it would make such a lovely topping sprinkled over the icing.

FYI: These should be put in the oven the next day to reheat to keep the outside crunchy otherwise they go very soft and not scone like texture.
